Independent Living Centre Tas

Independent Living Centre is a NDIA registered non-profit organisation that provides advice and information on device features and assistive technologies available for all disabilities. Training sessions and workshops on how to use these devices are offered at their South Launceston location or through their home-visit service. Training sessions are paid, offered online or face-to-face in groups or individual, and include beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of training.

Available Training:

The Independent Living Centre provides on-request seminars, workshops and training sessions which can be arranged around specific topics within Assistive Technology and Disability Support. They also host information sessions provided by suppliers of new products to make people aware of new technology. These services can be arranged to be deliver that the Independent Living centre or another venue of your choice. Some of the key areas that they cover, in relation to accessible telecommunications, include, but are not limited to:

  • Mobile Phones – Android and Apple Devices, and other phone options
  • Tablets – iPads, Android and Microsoft tablets
  • Landlines – Corded, Cordless and Text Telephones available
  • Assistive Technology – Switch Controls, Hearing Devices, and more.
  • The use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems for telecommunications
  • Video calling software such as Skype
